GLIDE Redesign: Making Time to Work on You

It’s tough for a (fortunately) busy web design company to make time to work on their own site. You can deliberate about it for what seems like forever—and ever—but at some point you have to take the plunge. It’ll never happen if you dip your toes in here and there and treat it like a side project.

No, instead, you have to act toward yourself like you would a client. And so finally, once summer hit, we drew a line in the sand and dove in.

Who am I?

Like every project, we started with some soul searching. What’s the essence of GLIDE? What do we do, who do we do it for, and most importantly, why?

Once we were satisfied with the answers to these existential questions, we rewrote our core values. Still, by this point we were a few weeks in and had yet to translate any of these fanciful words into a visual concept.

You are what you do

We all agreed that a minimal and museum-like style would be best. Our brand is a collection of what we build. Our website is the digital home for our work. Any framing or velvet ropes would be there simply to bring attention to the fruits of our labor.

We are incredibly proud of what we do, and there’s no better way to show it than to, well, show it. We hope you like what you see.

Let your personality come through

In the end, we found plenty of ways to give the website a feel unique to GLIDE. The logo, for example, evokes the versatility and timeless beauty of origami. The language is friendly, concise, and earnest, just like we try to be. If you look closely at the main image, you’ll notice gently passing clouds, a reminder that we’re always moving and changing shape.

There will always be more we want to add, but for now, we’re thrilled to have a website that lives up to the high standards we set for everything we do.
